Business Plan Boot Camp

A three to six hour session for nonprofit leaders that utilizes the CONNECT Nonprofit Business Plan Workbook as a guide to cover the following essential business plan elements:

  • The Executive Summary
  • Description of Business
  • Market Analysis/Community Need
  • Marketing Plan
  • Service Delivery
  • Management Plan
  • Operations Plan
  • Evaluation Plan
  • Financial Plan
  • Risk Analysis

Additionally, we offer suggestions for maximizing writing time, tips for staying focused and balanced, and how to combat writer's block. In-class activities provide attendees with opportunities to "try on" some of the language that needs to be presented in a business format, which is often a challenge for nonprofit writers.

This strategy assists grantees with refining their own technical skills as well as creating a deliverable that not only satisfies their contract requirements but also is a usable tool in their planning or capacity building efforts and reinforces the importance of good business practices.
